Idea Inspirations
Ideas inspired by a Korean drama called "Extraordinary You"
Drama plot:
The characters inside the drama is actually living as a character from a comic book. (so they are in the comic world). Everything they do and react is almost altered by the writer. At the same time, the characters themselves did not like their own role and character and are trying hard to change what the writer is writing.

In my previous "Shadow and Silouhette" project, I have done something relating to "fantasy" escapism from the real world. I did some Disney characters paper cut to form shadows of the characters when light shines on it.. Audiences of that artwork are kids/ Disney lover/ fantasy seeking audience etc. I like the idea of how Disney is well known to everyone around the world, most people (no matter what age and gender) still like it. During this moment, all Disney or amusement park are closed due to the virus outbreak. I am sure that at this moment, some people may be lack of some fantasy enjoyment and seeking for happiness in these wonderland.
In this final project, I would like to continue the idea of fantasy escapism and focus on the audience of kids/ fantasy seeking lover/ Disney lover, etc. Today, I did some research on Disney films and stories. I have specifically chosen the story of ALICE IN WONDERLAND for my project to work on. This story was originally very fantasy based, since it is about Alice has fallen in the world of wonderland. Afterwards, I have done further research on the story of Alice in wonderland, and how I can extend my work with stories

After the research on the story of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, today, I have decided to plan how I can turn the story to an ESCAPISM artwork. I have thought about:
1. Someone was watching an animation of Alice in wonderland, suddenly he or she got pulled into the animation by accident.
2. Create "Alice in wonderland" comic, and as I read along it, Alice messaged me "Do you wanna join me to the wonderland?" - FINAL CHOICE
3. I was making a comic book of Alice in Wonderland, something went wrong, I fall into comic world.
After the development of the idea, I felt like the second idea is better. Since you are being requested to join Alice to the wonderland, and you are able to choose yes or no. So if the audience choose yes, it is showing the audiences' ability to escape from reality to the fantasy wonderland, and that is Escapism.

2. Create "Alice in wonderland" comic, and as I read along it, Alice messaged me "Do you wanna join me to the wonderland?" - FINAL CHOICE

I spend almost 3.5 days doing the comic drawings of Alice in Wonderland. The process is very complicated, since I have to make sure the illustrations are clear and quite detailed, enable to show the audience what is it and understand it easily.

After my comic drawing of Alice in wonderland, I will make a message illustration from Alice "Do you wanna join me to the wonderland?".
EVALUATION of FINAL PROJECT.
Strength:
I think the Alice In wonderland comic was drawn very detailedly. I like the fact that when I posted online, everyone recognise it is Alice. Besides, I also posted on instagram asking my friends whether they want to join Alice to Wonderland. 90% of people say yes. I guess this artwork is very attractive that is able to attract people to press yes to join Alice to the wonderland.
Weaknesses:
I think I can draw my illustration and make my animation faster, so I could continue what will happen after pressing yes. LIke I could have continue the story of me falling into it. SInce the time is very consuming, I was unable to finish my drawing of what will happen next. However, I have planned to continue my story in the way of me going to Alice in Wonderland with my phone. Ended up I keept taking photos over there and posting it on social media. I also planned to make a cartoon drawing of myself, since it is weird for me to look realistic while the other characters look 2D.
FINAL ANIMATION
Comic Illustration
The audience will be focusing on comic lovers, Alice in wonderland lovers, or fantasy seekers etc. The messages from Alice "Do you wanna join me to the wonderland?" was a chance to show the level of escapism that the audiences are looking for.
Pressing YES: means that the audiences are trying to seek distraction from the unpleasant reality, and searching for fantasy and unrealistic events happening.
Pressing NO: means the audience have 0 interest in escapism
Therefore, targetting the audience to comic lovers and fantasy seekers will be more successful to see their level of escapism.
