When I saw the word shadow, the word "dark" comes to my mind. Then I start to develop it by thinking where should I place my final object in? Should it be somewhere dark? Due to the situation, we are all in now, I have decided to do something again in my bedroom. #Stayinghome 

Then I start to apply my topic - Escapism to a dark bedroom. Asking myself what to make in a dark bedroom to make it feel like escapism. A dark bedroom can link to the idea of a bedtime story, nightmare etc. 

Then I have come up to several ideas from "bedtime stories" 

1. Create a Disney storybook by shadows only

2. Create a paper cut light box with Disney characters.

3. Create a lamp like structure with Disney character paper cut silhouette, as light shine to it, the shadow will be all around the room. Like what artist Christian Boltanski did (refer to research page - shadow and silhouette). 

Today, I have done some researches on lights with shadows artwork. The research was shown on the left-hand side column. This helps me come up to two creation for the final outcome. 

From the ideas I have generated yesterday, with the research I did, I decided to stick along with idea 2 and 3

Disney based story

Audience: kids and Disney lovers/ fantasy seekers

most of the kids would like their room to become a fantasy world like Disney. Create lightbox/ lamp-like object to place it in the room for the audience, so it could allow them to see the Disney cartoon characters' shadow every night when they turn off the lights before going to bed.

Final outcome:  lamp cylinder with Disney characters' silhouette being cut on it. Lights are inside the cylinder. When the lights in the room are off, and the lights inside the lamp are on, then the Disney characters' shadows will be shown and project around the room

The final outcome will be similar to the lamp above. The lamp above shows the shadow of shining stars, but my final outcome will be shadowing some Disney characters out. 

Start cutting out the silhouette of Disney's character.

I think the outcome is very simple. My idea artwork act as a lamp. It is for children or disney lover to consume it. Everyday before sleep, when they turn off the lights with this lamp on only, they will see the shadow (as shown above) in their room. It is totally feeling like as if they were in Disney. I think it is a very good time to give the audience now, since all the disney around the world has closed due to the virus. It is also very easy to create it. Therefore, it is a simple, creative way to change your room into a disney world.
